Welcome to the MAME Leadership 2008 wiki! This wiki is a place to pool our collective knowledge as we move forward in our buildings to develop our roles as instructional and faculty leaders and is an extension of the Spring 2008 MAME Leadership Institute led by Blanche Woolls, with Marcia Mardis and Kristin Fontichiaro. In a period of intense budget reductions statewide, leadership and advocacy become intertwined: our need to preserve our programs intact spurs us on to think more deeply about the ways in which we meaningfully and directly impact student learning.
Blanche encouraged us to set a small, manageable number of goals to complete before the conclusion of the school year. We developed these goals out of the listening and sensemaking exercises led by Marcia and used Blanche's "50 Ways to Lead" document (below) for inspiration. The group identified major challenges in Michigan, and Blanche suggested solutions on the link below.
We hope you will share your progress with us here so that we can continue to learn from each other and support one another's leadership journey. Remember the metaphor of amber: like MAME, amber brings forth our creativity, promotes positive thinking, helps us make meaningful decisions, and draws negativity away.
